Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

Chapter 62 New Technique

Everyone around, especially the aunts, got right to work setting the table and making food. Compared to his initial arrival, Raydon was welcomed this time with much more warmth. Moreover, as they prepared the dinner table, everyone appeared happier than before.

Raydon was astonished and thoughtful when he noticed how everyone was looking at him with the utmost respect and adoration. \'They seem to have accepted me sooner than I expected. \'

Raydon\'s gaze shifted to the purple-haired and purple-eyed crippled boy and he inquired. \'\'You look exactly like someone I know.  What was your name? \'\'

Rayn became enthralled by the question posed to him. He never expected to get Raydon\'s attention. \'\' R-rayn. \'\'

\'\'Rayn huh? It\'s an impressive name. I was wondering, Rayn, do you have an older sister who just looks like you? \'\'

Rayn flushed at the compliment on his name. If someone else had said it, it might not have had the same impact, but Raydon did, and it was incredibly flattering for him to get praise from him. He immediately responded to Raydon\'s question.

\'\'Yes, I have a sister, Belicia. She\'s not here right now but because she works as a maid for a wealthy family, she can only come a few times a week. \'\'

After some consideration, Raydon said. \'\'Oh, I got it. I think I got it mixed up with someone else. \'\'

Raydon refrained from claiming to know Belicia because he suspected that nobody here knew that she was an item holder or even a battle maid. So he didn\'t want to complicate things any further.

Rayn also didn\'t question why Raydon was asking that question. He, like the others, thought he was simply trying to strike up a conversation.

The table was eventually set, and everyone ate. Dan and his group almost fell asleep while eating, but they were able to overcome it thanks to their strengthened mentality and willpower.

The fact that Raydon was sitting at the table with them again and eating dinner gave them an extra boost of energy.

Every time they glanced over at Raydon, who was seated at the head of the table, they saw the sadness underneath a faint smile as he ate slowly and enjoyed his meal. Dan\'s words continued to reverberate in their minds as they all consumed their meals. If they had ever harbored even the slightest qualms about Raydon, they were all gone after this meal.

Raydon appeared to be very close to obtaining the loyalty he sought...

--

Following dinner, Raydon gave Dan and his team a quick rest period, during which everyone dozed off. When the rest period was over, they all seemed to have recovered, if not completely. They all lined up in front of Raydon as before, waiting for his next instructions.

\'\'Dan. \'\' Raydon called out Dan\'s name, and he immediately ran up to him and stood in front of him.

Raydon gave his next instruction with a straight face right away. \'\'Attack me. \'\'

Dan was momentarily startled when he heard this, but he quickly recovered and dashed to Raydon. He saw Raydon standing still as he ran towards him, but he didn\'t stop and got ready to punch.

Dan quickly moved into position and punched Raydon in the face. Knowing that Raydon\'s body couldn\'t be hurt by his mere fist and that even a bullet couldn\'t hurt him, he had used all of his strength without holding back.

Dan was just waiting for his fist to hit Raydon\'s face as it got closer, but that didn\'t happen as Dan had anticipated.

The fist swung completely in vain, finding no target for itself. Dan went on the defensive after regaining his shaky balance and began looking for Raydon, who had been the target of his fist but was now nowhere to be found.

Dan looked to the right, to the left, to the back, up, and down, but he still couldn\'t find him. He turned to look at the audience in an attempt to understand what was going on, but all he saw were the shocked expressions on everyone\'s faces.

\'\'What\'s going on? Where has brother Raydon disappeared to? \'\' Dan enquired with curiosity and confusion. The only plausible explanation, in his mind, was that Raydon had used his item-holder abilities to turn invisible.

\'\'Boss, are you okay? \'\' One of the youths asked with concern on his face.

\'\'Boss, I think you pushed yourself too hard in the previous training. Or did you not sleep well? \'\' Another said.

\'\'Did you get water in your eye, boss? Or are you losing your sight like the old grandpa? \'\' Fatty Sami said sarcastically.

\'\'What are you talking about? I\'m absolutely fine. \'\' Dan was unable to comprehend what they were talking about. Raydon\'s invisibility had nothing to do with his vision, right?

\'\'Boss, Brother Raydon is still standing next to you. \'\' Pana said while pointing with a shaking hand. She was equally confused about what was happening, but whatever it was, it was completely unbelievable.

Dan looked where Pana was pointing, confused once more. Raydon had just become invisible and had now deactivated his ability to become visible again. Isn\'t that the situation? After all, he was an item holder, and such abilities should have come naturally to him, so why was everyone watching so shocked?

While Dan was perplexed, the real reason the others were so shocked was that they had only seen Raydon narrowly avoid Dan\'s punch by angling his head back slightly. And he was only moving in Dan\'s blind spot, taking very small steps the entire time. His movements seemed so natural and minimal to the audience that it appeared as if he didn\'t move at all and simply stood next to Dan, but he still managed to escape his field of vision.

\'\'What\'s going on, Brother Raydon? \'\' Dan asked enquiringly, but he didn\'t get the response he was hoping for.

\'\'Next one. \'\' Raydon called. Out of the group, Karan immediately stepped forward as the second-highest rank member of the gang. The slight trembling in his body indicated how excited he was. Whatever had just happened to Dan, he was about to experience for himself, and it was... incredible.
