Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!

Chapter 70 - Feel The Emotions

Chapter 70 - Feel The Emotions

After her afternoon nap, Yvonne woke up refreshed and the first thing she did was to head to the room where she had the music class with Governess Lester on alternate days.

She asked Mrs. Jacinth to take her usual afternoon break and then locked the door from the inside.

\'Now let\'s see if I can play the same way I did this morning or if that was just my luck which was shining overwhelmingly to save me from that Vicious Grandma\'s rage.\' She contemplated as her fingers clenched together to form a fist.

She stepped towards the grand piano with such caution and wariness as though she was entering a dangerous battlefield where her life could be lost at any second for lack of attention.

\'Okay, I need to calm my nerves. There\'s no need to fear this instrument. I did it once today so I\'m sure that I can do it once again!\' She cheered herself up and took deep calming breaths to ease her tight nerves.

The new musical score that had moved Yvonne to tears had given her a strange longing to play it once again.

Sadly, Governess Lester had taken it away after letting Yvonne play it only once.

"She handled it with such care as though it was her family\'s heirloom." She scoffed because now she could not play that piece again until her teacher brought the musical sheet with her for their next class.

Not left with any other choice, she picked up an older piece which she had played numerous times yet every single time she received punishment for the tiniest pauses or mistakes she made.

"Let\'s make do with this one." She shrugged her anxiety away and placed her ten fingers on the ivory and ebony keys.

Taking another deep breath, she pressed the first key and then the second followed by the third and this went on and on.

As she moved ahead with the piece, her confidence rose as she had not made any mistakes yet.

\'This seems easy enoug-\' She had just thought in this manner when her fingers hit the wrong key and the melodious tune was wrecked in an instant.

"Dammit!" She cursed and banged her fingers onto random keys in her anger.

The harsh and abrupt noises that rang throughout the room caused her to wince and cover her ears.

She closed her eyes with her tiny palms still clamped over her ears.

\'Let the music flow through you.\' A beautiful whisper sounded in her ear.

\'Feel the emotions it is trying to convey\' The soft and velvety voice echoed in her ear.

Yvonne was lost in a trance as a smile formed on her face after hearing the words that were now echoing in the room.

\'Give yourself to the music and it will lead you on…\' The room went silent with these words that held deep meaning.

Yvonne\'s eyes opened in the next second and she gazed intently at the music sheet placed before her.

Her mind was a complete blank as she glanced at the scores once and then placed her fingers back on the keys.

This time, she never made a mistake, never paused for a moment to take a second look at the next key that needed to be played.

Her hands moved freely and soon her lashes fluttered as she shut her eyes.

She began immersing herself in the music she was playing just as she had been instructed to do.

Instructed by whom?

She had no clue about this but there was one thing that she was sure about and that was her heart which desired to follow the voice that spoke in her head.

Engrossed in the music, she neither noticed her body which was swaying with the tune nor did she realize the change in the music being played.

The joyful and uplifting music had now metamorphosed into a gloomy tune which could give the blues to anyone who paid attention to it.

Her shoulders trembled as tears began rolling down her eyes which were still glued shut.

The little figure sitting before the piano did not match the sad and depressing music that she was playing.

After what seemed like a good half hour, Yvonne\'s fingers slowed down before they came to a halt.

She pressed the final ivory key and lifted her hands off the piano as her eyes gradually opened once again.

Her red eye rims were proof of the tears she had just shed and her aching fingers were evidence of the amount of time she had played without a single mistake or stopping to glance at the sheet.

Yvonne\'s blurry eyes stared at her fingers and then she looked up at the window behind the piano as a hoarse whisper spilled out of her mouth.

"Tears of our Love"

Her throat and her fingers were hurting thanks to her continuous performance but the part of her which hurt the most was her heart.

She raised her hands and clasped the part of her dress which was over the chest, right where her heart would be, and gasped to catch her breath.

\'Am I having a panic attack?\' She wondered and rose from her seat to fetch herself a glass of water which was set at the table on the other side of the room.

She sat on the chair next to it and stared at the piano where she had been all this while.

"That was the \'Tears of our Love\', wasn\'t it?" She asked no one in particular as she was all alone in this room.

She had played that piece just once this morning but the tune had stuck like gum in her head.

\'But how the hell did I play the entire piece without the score?\' She questioned herself and this time she was well aware of the answer.

"This was the previous Yvonne\'s memory." She asserted but then paused.

"But how can this be previous Yvonne\'s memory when she was just as bad as me at playing the piano?" She countered her own answer.

However, there was a thought stuck in the corner of her mind which was itching to reveal itself.

"Was there another Yvonne? One who knew how to play this piece?" She murmured and felt a shiver run down her spine.

She wasn\'t sure of how accurate she was with her speculation but she had felt a certain sorrow and grief as she was playing the music in her dazed state which could not be explained by any other means.

Her heart leaned towards her second theory.

She knew that she had child Yvonne\'s previous memories so she wasn\'t panicked about such a thing happening again.

The biggest proof for this was when she was previously in the St. Claire Fief and was running back to the house after spying on the first meeting between the male and female lead of this story.

The random twists and turns she had taken had led her to the stables when she had never been there herself.

However, what had stumped her was as follows.

She had played the piano multiple times with Governess Lester but had never felt or experienced this heart-wrenching pain while playing the piano before today.

This brought another thought to her mind causing her to wonder whether there was something much bigger at play here.

\'Why are things seeming so complicated?\' She grumbled at her luck and shook her head.

The simple and one-directional plot that she had read in blue bird\'s script was not as simple as she had made it out to be.

Her head was now hurting, thinking these strange things and she decided to put this new finding of hers on the backburner until she could get a little more information about this musical piece and its composer.

\'Let\'s just focus on what I can explain and have control over for now!\' She nodded her head and stood up from her seat.

"I hope Marquess Samed brings me some useful information tomorrow." She hoped for the best as she walked towards the door.

Unlocking the door, she stepped outside and the first person she saw was Mrs. Jacinth.

"Back from your break, nanny?" She called out in her adorable voice.

No one would believe that the person inside who had been meticulously organizing her thoughts was the same as this little girl who still had her milk teeth.

Mrs. Jacinth smiled when she heard the word \'nanny\' coming from her young miss\'s mouth but soon it turned to a frown.

"Miss, please don\'t play that song anymore. It does not compliment your lovely self." She requested after mustering all her courage.

Yvonne tilted her head and glanced at her with a confused look on her face which made the old maid\'s heart melt into a puddle.

"That song makes me remember my dead husband and I wish to cry until I have no more tears left in me." She explained while bending down to carry her.

Yvonne had looked away when the maid drew closer to hoist her up if not then Mrs. Jacinth would have noticed her red eyes which would definitely cause a storm in the St. Claire Estate.

"Did you love your husband very much?" The tender and naive voice rang in the nanny\'s ear which made her lips form a bitter smile.

Mrs. Jacinth glimpsed in the child\'s direction and when she noticed her curious eyes, she nodded her head in agreement.

"Yes, I did and still do." She revealed and Yvonne could notice her voice choking slightly as she said those words.

"We were childhood sweethearts who stuck close together through all the troubles that life tossed at us." She chuckled and her face looked as though it was glowing as she continued speaking of the precious time she had spent with her husband while he was still alive.

\'Governess Lester also said that the composer had made that song in loving memory of his dead wife.\' She recalled and nodded her head which was misunderstood by her nanny as a sign to continue with her stories.

Yvonne had found a connecting tie, a link between the two people.

Their love for their dead spouses.

\'So how does that explain the connection I have to the music piece?\' She lamented in her heart since she had never been married in either lives.
