Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 85

“How about tonight? She will talk to you before you sleep. ” Vincent informed Lupa. She quickly raised a smile at these words.

Later, Lupa brought Ester and Tula.

Ester flinched in surprise at the once muscle inflated body, now withered like a person that had all the nutrients in his body absorbed. She soon noticed how peaceful he appeared to have died. She felt thankful to Kass for fighting until the end and helping them survive.

“It’s uncle Kass...” Tula fell on her knees, crying on his cold, withered chest. It took a long time of mourning until she cried herself to sleep.

“I will start digging a hole. How about you check the pockets of the soldiers? Maybe they have something helpful.” Vincent grabbed the shovel to start digging a hole.

Ester “I’ll take care of Tula in the meantime while she is sleeping.”

.....

Lupa “I’ll go. I’m good at finding things.”

[I had the same idea, but we should be careful and only keep items that can’t be tracked. Inspect anything Lupa brings for safety measures.]

[Well, we can use Tula as an excuse for being a soldier or Kass niece for certain items, but we shouldn’t take too much. Like, ahem... all their armor and equipment.]

-You are right. Lets first see what Lupa brings first.-

Kazumi remembered how items could be tracked by using an Inspection ability or an Inspection Gemstone. But it would be a waste to bury the soldiers without checking what they possessed, she believed.

Lupa approached the first soldier. It was one of the two soldiers who she took his sword to stab the Demonic Beast. He was killed with a crushing blow as the chest armor was bent inwards.

Lupa searched all his pockets and found two items. She had a six-sided dice in one hand and a small light bag in the other.

Lupa approached the second soldier she took the sword from. The soldier died in the same fashion. As if the two soldiers received a one-two combo and got knocked far from each other by the strike’s might. She found a small heavy bag this time.

Lupa approached the third dead soldier. I was the soldier who she took the shield to crash and to impale deeper the swords stuck on the Demonic Beast’s back.

Lupa noticed the helmet on her head cracked in half and gray hair covered with spills of blood. She seemed old like Kass, unlike the other two dead young soldiers. The old female soldier seemed to have suffered a death similar to what Tula might have suffered.

Lupa searched her pockets but found nothing inside. Her keen golden eyes soon picked up a thin silver chain on her neck. She removed this silver necklace. It had a small gray bag instead of an ornament attached to it.

Lupa saw the shield she used to crash against the Demonic Beast. She picked it up and took it with her over to Vincent, using the shield like a plate to hold the two small ordinary-looking bags, one small gray bag, one silver necklace, and one small dice.

“Vincent, I have returned. Look at what I found.” Lupa joyfully said with her tail wagging along her happy emotions to receive praise.

Vincent took this occasion to take a break from digging. His eyes soon noticed the loot Lupa found and later learned how the other soldiers died.

[Look at that excited tail. You better praise her, hehe.]

“You did well.” Vincent caressed her head as a reward.

Lupa quickly hugged Vincent and rushed over to Ester to boast about what she found with a delighted grin.

‘That happy wolf likes to cause trouble. I wonder what she’s going to say to Ester.’ He thought with a slight smirk.

“I found this red bag in Kass’s pockets. So we have four small bags now. Two ordinary made from linen and two colored bags made from Magical Beast skin. The texture is between leathery and scaly like a fish.” Vincent sat on the red grass to inspect all the items on the shield.

.

[Name] Small Bag

[Condition] Undamaged

[Loot]

*1x Copper Coin

.

[Name] Small Bag

[Condition] Undamaged

[Loot]

*22x Copper Coin

.

“Hmm... These two bags have money in them. Copper is the lowest, but beggars can’t be choosers.” Vincent opened the two bags to check if the contents were as Inspection notified. He also wanted to see how the coins in this world looked like.

However, the coins weren’t anything special. They had a sun and a dragon engraved in the middle. Nothing fancy, yet portraying the dragons as gods or of great importance to the humans of this world.

[Ester mentioned how the dragons were the origin of classes to humans and gave animals the ability to turn into Magical or Demonic Beasts. It might be why they are using dragons.]

-I thought so too.-

Vincent placed the two ordinary small bags aside. Shortly, the thought of the next two bags being something special flashed in his mind.

.

[Name] Small Gray Bag Of Holding

[Condition] Undamaged, Gender Bound (Female)

.

Vincent frowned when the gray bag in his hand not only was a Bag Of Holding they wanted to study, but it had two surprising results. It was gender bound, and it didn’t show the items inside.

“There are sexist bags in this world, haha.” Vincent laughed at the joke. But his smile soon turned upside down as the gray bag didn’t open no matter what he tried to do.

Vincent thought that maybe it would open since Kazumi’s soul resided in him. But his idea failed. The pissed Vincent shortly attacked the small gray bag with the shovel in the heat of the moment.

Surprisingly, not only nothing happened, but it didn’t get damaged, not even a tiny scratch. As if it was protected by magic.

[Have you forgotten these bags are made from rare monsters? I wonder what kind of monster this was made from hehe.]

Vincent let a hopeless sigh and picked the small red bag. He prepared himself for more disappointment to be on the safe side and not lose his cool, starting a cursing spree.

.

[Name] Small Red Bag Of Holding

[Condition] Undamaged, Blood Bound (Inspection level too low)

.

*Thud

Vincent threw the bag on the ground. He became annoyed not to be able to open a magical bag from another world. Even if he had something much better, such as the Soul Dimensional Storage, he was deprived of the experience of opening one.

.

[Name] Silver Necklace

[Condition] Undamaged

.

[Name] Six-Sided Die

[Condition] Undamaged

.

[Name] Steel Shield

[Condition] Undamaged

.

Vincent raised the shield and noticed a lion’s head engraved on it. He remembered how the two shields Kass fought with didn’t have any emblem on them.

[Lupa said this shield was on the old woman. There’s a high chance she was Kass’s wife, meaning this is his shield. A memento for Tula to remember them.]

Vincent nodded. He grabbed the shield along with items and went over to the girls.

Tula was awake with her head lying on Ester’s lap. Ester was gently brushing her brown hair. She looked dependable, like an older sister. The grumpy wolf girl Lupa glared daggers at Tula to take her place and get her white hair brushed instead.

“I think this is your uncle’s shield. It has the same lions head engraved on it, like the armor and white cape he wore.” Vincent placed the shield beside her.

Tula lowered her sad gaze. She grabbed the shield and remembered the first time her uncle showed off a new shield with a lions head engraved on it.

“This... this is my uncle’s shield... he and my father showed me this shield a year ago.” Tula hugged the shield while taking her time to utter these words.

“An old woman had this shield. She also had a gray Gender-Bound Bag Of Holding on her. Could she be your auntie by any chance?” Vincent asked. If so, then he would need to make the dead female soldier presentable for Tula.

“No... I never had an auntie.” Tula replied.

“Ahh, don’t mind then. ” Vincent quickly ended the subject. He, along with Ester, Lupa, and Kazumi, knew that many years passed. Many things happened between the current time and the time she remembers.

Vincent turned his gaze on Ester while trying to see the following expression on her face as he said, “It might sound disturbing, but we looted all the dead soldiers. Along with Kass and the old woman, were two young men.”

.....

Looting a corpse was different between real life and a game. Vincent wanted to know if she supported the idea or deny it. He didn’t want her to hate him for stealing from the dead.

“Did you find anything else that might help? A Gender-Bound Bag Of Holding should cost a lot since its a special version.” Ester asked.

Ester had the expression of being a bit surprised by the Bag Of Holding, yet it wasn’t exaggerated. She knew Vincent possed a one of a kind ability, the Soul Dimensional Storage after all.

Ester was slowly becoming immune to surprises that broke the laws of the world she knew.

“But, does it bother you that I looted dead people?” Vincent wanted to confirm as he asked the question troubling his mind.

“I know you are a kind person. I guess I know what you’re thinking, but we need to keep on living...” Ester lowered her gazed and noticed her left hand trembling. She used the right hand to stop the trembling and continued, “I have now learned the lesson. Hesitate, we die. Be unprepared, we die. Be weak, we die.”

[So profound, yet so true. Ester knows our current and future situations. Being on our side and thinking like us will help in our survival.]

-Yes, and now I made the air heavy with a depressing matter.-

“Ahem... Ester, can you open this sexist bag for me?” Vincent tried to change the subject by handing the gray bag to her.

“I found it, I open it, humph.” Lupa pouted and swiftly stole the gray bag from his hand. She rushed to open the Gender-Bound Bag Of Holding. Suddenly, an extensive collection of clothes darted over to Vincent, knocking him on the ground.

Lupa gasped in surprise. She froze in place at what she did with a pair of puzzled raised brows and a scared frozen stiff tail.

Ester and Tula turned their gaze on Vincent as well. Soon, the heavy mood changed. Ester chuckled at the hilarious scene of a woman’s underwear hanging on his head. Tula smirked at the funny scene, feeling a bit better.
