A Husband For Killer Mom

Chapter 99

“Mommy? What happens?” Lori tilted her head as she asked her father.

Richard shook his head the same way Lori did in answering him. “Who knows? Alright, it’s time for you to take a nap.”

Lori pursed her lips at her father’s last words. “But I still want to play.”

Richard flicked his daughter’s nose fondly, “You can keep playing after napping. Be a good girl, now.”

Lori obediently let her father pick her up and laid her on the bed. After arranging the pillows around Lori so his baby girl wouldn’t roll over and fall, Richard kissed her daughter on the forehead.

He stroked Lori’s head in a gentle motion making Lori’s eyelids feel heavier. It didn’t take long for Lori’s eyelids to close entirely, and the child fell fast asleep.

Afterward, Richard slowly got up from the bed and walked towards the dressing room. However, he couldn’t find his wife there, making him wonder how his wife got out of this space.

There were no doors or windows other than a sliding door facing the bed. If Anxia had walked out of this dressing room, Richard would have known it right away.

.....

He was also sure there was no secret passage like the one in the main room leading to another location, so he was confident that his wife was still in this room.

Richard closed the sliding door again and walked deeper inside, and only then could he see Anxia’s petite figure in the corner of the room.

Anxia was sitting downstairs with her knees bent in front of her chest. His wife’s eyes were blank, and her expression was flat. The woman looked like a lost child hiding in a dark place because she didn’t know her way home and didn’t want to meet a wild predator.

This was the first time he had seen Anxia’s weak side like this, apart from the breakdown incident a few days ago.

Hasn’t the source of Anxia’s problems been sorted out? Soon Anxia could talk to Ling Meng, the friend she was eager to save.

But why did the woman look so dispirited?

Richard approached Anxia and then crouched down on one leg to bring his wife’s line of sight.

It seemed that Anxia was too deep in her thoughts to notice his presence. Anxia’s eyeballs didn’t react as Richard crouched right in front of her.

Richard gently patted the top of his wife’s head, then her eyes moved and glanced at him.

“What are you thinking? What makes you unhappy?”

Anxia didn’t answer and just lowered her head as if she didn’t want to look at him, which brought further confusion.

Wasn’t that woman just fine a moment ago? Anxia even lay down casually, using his thigh as a pillow. But why was she acting as if she wanted to avoid him now?

Is she trying to reclose her heart? Richard couldn’t let that happen.

He had gone to great lengths to get his wife to open up to him. His efforts would be useless if Anxia tried to leave him again.

“Xia Xia,” Richard lifted Anxia’s chin with his forefinger and felt his heart squeezed when he saw the cloudy light shining in his wife’s beautiful eyes.

Really... what makes his wife so unhappy like this?

If only Richard knew that Anxia was melancholy because she believed her husband didn’t love her, perhaps Richard would be over the moon. Now Anxia recognized this tingling feeling inside her heart and realized the true colors of this feeling.

She had to acknowledge that she had fallen for her shameless, perverted husband. She realized her body and eyes constantly searched for his warmth and felt at home whenever Richard was by her side.

Anxia was content with how things were like usual. She felt satisfied receiving his attention and kindness and didn’t mind if she was just a tool to satisfy his desires.

But... she didn’t know when she became greedy. Anxia wanted more. She didn’t want Richard to only care about her as the mother of his child. She didn’t want Richard to give her money or other valuables just because she was the woman who gave birth to that man’s child.

Anxia wanted something else, but... she didn’t know what exactly she wanted.

“Xia Xia, what happened? Didn’t you say you’d try to rely on me? Tell me, what makes you gloomy like this?”

Anxia swallowed hard as if she felt a thick lump block her throat. She felt her eyes sting like something had stabbed them in their sockets. Her husband’s handsome face was getting blurred as if something blocked her sight.

Could it be... she cries?

Not only Anxia but Richard also was stunned to see her moistened eyes. As long as he could remember, Anxia rarely showed her tears, and he thought that Anxia’s breakdown incident a few days ago was the first and last time he to see his wife’s tears.

Who would have thought that at this moment, he would see that Anxia would cry for no apparent reason?

Richard enjoyed his wife’s thousand expressions, whether anger, frustration, or an evil smirk on her face. But he hated it the most when he saw his beloved woman shed tears.

When he saw Anxia’s tears that night, Richard was determined not to make his wife shed any more tears. He would give happiness and joyful laughter that filled her sweet, adorable face. Well, he would tease his wife once in a while because Anxia was adorable when she was overwhelmed by his teasing.

Richard slipped his hands between Anxia’s knees and lifted her like a princess-carry.

Anxia didn’t resist and obediently returned his embrace by wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head on the man’s broad shoulder.

Richard used his feet to slide open the dressing room door, then he walked towards the balcony of this room facing the mountain.
